Arcadia Real Estate

When Arcadia won the DeSoto County seat by 21 votes in 1888, Arcadia real estate wasn't in much of a town at all. Residents of the county gravitated to the county seat, driving to extinction other towns like Pine Level and Fort Winder. The completion of the railroad through the County in the 1870's accelerated growth, bringing wealth for many. With the discovery of phosphate on the banks of the County's Peace River around the same time, prosperity was ensured until 1905, when a fire destroyed a major portion of the town. But Arcadia prevailed. Arcadia real estate today is apparently unchanged in many ways, with an economy thriving on agriculture, citrus groves, phosphate and cattle.
